ESCANABA, Mich. (AP) -- You probably won't find a turkey baster in the typical maternity ward. But the kitchen device proved useful when an Upper Peninsula woman gave birth at home.

Shannon Mata of Gladstone went into labor yesterday morning, although her baby wasn't due until December 14. Her husband was out of town, so she called her mother-in-law. There wasn't time to drive to the hospital. As they waited for an ambulance, the mother-in-law spoke with an emergency medical technician by phone.

Fortunately, an off-duty paramedic was driving nearby with his radio on. Edwin LaCosse rushed over as the baby girl was being born.

He used a turkey baster to clear her nose and mouth, and a shoelace to tie off the umbilical cord. Mother and baby are fine today. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)

Got Milk?

An Iowa mother with extra breast milk on her hands this week placed a newspaper ad offering to sell the milk for $200 (or the best offer she receives). Martha Heller's unorthodox offer, which first appeared in Tuesday's edition of The Gazette, came after Heller, 22, was stuck with 100 ounces of frozen milk when her four-month-old daughter refused to nurse from a bottle. Heller's ad, a copy of which you'll find above, ran in the "Children's items" category of the Gazette's classified section and follows an ad offering a Barbie jeep for $150. A spokesman for Iowa's Department of Public Health told The Gazette that he was unaware of any laws barring the sale of breast milk, but that state officials frowned upon such offers.

Amy was very surprised to hear how much time I spent with Mike Koch in Vegas.. I slept with Mike Koch, smacked Mike Koch, introduced Mike Koch to strangers and the eleven guys of Willapoolza enjoyed hang'n with Mike Koch.....

Seriously, if it wasn't for Jon's wieners I would never have gotten the opportunity to spend a weekend in Vegas with Mike Koch..

Williapoolza!!!!

I just got back from Willapoolza in Las Vegas. What the F#*k is Willapoolza!! It was a fun filled weekend with a great group of guys, aka a bachelor party for Will. We packed a lot in in just a couple of days.

Finally I got to check off the Gilter Gulch "box".. Saddly, I was the only one out-of eleven to go, but I did tell them I was with a bachelor party..

We went to a cool Vodka Bar at Mandalay Bay called Red Square. They have a room that they keep at 10 degrees for drinking chilled Vodka. Before you enter the room they provide you with a coat and hat.... It's pretty $$$$ie...

And yes the next day was a little tuff............

Dirty Donnie

The man known as "Don Vito" on MTV's show "Viva La Bam" was convicted Wednesday of two counts of sexual assault on a child.

Vincent Margera, 51, who was accused of groping three girls ages 12 to 14 during an autograph signing event last year at mall skate park in the Denver suburb of Lakewood, fell to the floor cursing and yelled, "Just kill me now."

He was acquitted of a third count of sex assault on a child. He faces a sentence of probation to six years in prison on each conviction. If he doesn't comply with sex offender treatment as part of the sentence, he could potentially spend life in prison, district attorney's spokeswoman Pam Russell said.

After Margera's courtroom outburst, deputies restrained him and took him to jail, where he was being held without bail until his sentencing hearing, set for Dec. 20.

Defense attorney Pamela Mackey had argued that when Margera appeared at the skate park, he took on the persona of the outrageous and profane Don Vito. Mackey had said that Margera, a car painter, learned that the crazier he acted, the more his fans loved it.

"Viva La Bam" starred Margera's nephew, professional skateboarder Bam Margera.

Gabby Abby

Joey has a new friend. Her name is Abby and she's my mom's new Westie pup. Abby and Joe have been having a great time this last week. Abby is very playful and Joe has his hands full.

Soon Abby will be going ome with my mom and I'm sure Joe will miss them both, I know we will.

Action Packed

Sunday I was one of the fortunate sols to watch (in person) Brett Farve throw TD pass 421 and 422. Breaking Dan Marinos record of 420... Lucky for me Brett did it right away, because I had a few to many to drink.

Also, a special shot out to some Yoopers that made this all possible.. Scott, Ross and Desi... Especially Desi, for putting up with my drunk ass....

Sold!!!

After six days we found a buyer and have a deal. It a big relief but it didn't come easy. Amy and I put a lot of work in this last month on our home getting it ready and it paid off.

Busy Beavers

I know it’s been a long time since my last blog, but Amy and I have been extremely busy since she returned to Rochester.

Amy got back from Dallas on August 1st and we started house hunting on the 2nd and after a month and about 40 homes we decided on a new home. The house should be finished in December and I will be updating the progress as we go along.

Yesterday our house went on the market… and if you know anyone that is looking for a house close to St. Mary’s… this could be your house!!!

So not only have we been looking at homes but we have been working on getting ours ready to sell.

Big "D" and that "D" is not for Dallas...

This is our final weekend in Dallas.. We have really enjoyed our experience but it will be nice to have Amy home next weekend in Rochester.

Last weekend we finally went to the gay-neighborhood in Dallas. We lucky had a guide, JD. He is very poupular in the gay-neighborhood. Infact, he has a tramp stamp…. JD took us to a gay cowboy bar. I think it was the cleanest bar I have ever been in.
