Look Out Spike!! Mike is back with Nike!!

Today it was announced that Michael Vick was picked back up by Nike on an endorsement deal.... I get the NFL allowing him to work in an environment that he is qualified to do so... but Nike! WTF... Why would I want his endorsement on anything... bad move Nike... bad move...

I don't know how I'll do it.. but I'll JUST DO IT!!! Stop buying Nike products...

AUGUST 24, 2007--Michael "Ookie" Vick has agreed to plead guilty to a felony charge for his role in the management of a brutal dogfighting ring that was headquartered at a Virginia property owned by the NFL star. Vick, 27, is expected to formally enter his guilty plea Monday in an appearance at U.S. District Court in Richmond. As part of a plea deal, the Atlanta Falcons quarterback admitted that his Bad Newz Kennels operation wagered money--which he provided--in pit bull fights. However, "Vick did not gamble by placing side bets on any of the fights," according to a "summary of the facts" that was filed today in court. That document, a copy of which you'll find below, also notes that Vick "was aware" that three of his cohorts killed several dogs that performed poorly in test fighting sessions in mid-2002. The summary reports that "Vick did not kill any dogs at this time." Earlier this year, Vick, and two cronies "agreed to the killing of approximately 6-8 dogs" that fared poorly in testing sessions at his Smithfield, Virginia property. Some of the animals were drowned or hanged, and Vick "stipulated" that the animals died via the "collected efforts" of himself, and codefendants Quanis Phillips and Purnell Peace. Both Phillips and Peace previously pleaded guilty to federal charges and stated that Vick participated in the execution of eight dogs last April. Vick faces a maximum of five years in prison for his conspiracy conviction. CLICK HERE TO SEE THE COURT REPORT

Driver Seat

I guess being a Rock'n Roll star is not what it's all cracked up to be... Chris Nelson, on the right, lead singer of an AWESOME UP rock band, Driver, has fallen on the same tuff romantic times as Bret Michaels...

Ladies... Maybe you can find a way to kindle a little Rock of Love....

Here's his Bio: (or lyrics of the song that he calls life)

I have an A.A.S. in Accounting and work as an Administrative Assistant at a local college. My son is 15 and he is the light of my life and we both are avid sports fans. I would like to meet someone with similar interests for social conversations during dinner or just the contemplation of the world over a cup of coffee. I'm also interested in a woman who is a hopeless romantic like myself and enjoys evening walks and candlelight meals for two, yet can go out and have a good time with friends on a Saturday night. I am a classically trained pianist, but also play guitar and sing. I enjoy writing and performing all types of music. In my spare time I play in the rock band Driver.

Happy Punctuation Day!!!!!!!!!

Today, September 24th, marks the 6th annually celebrated punctuation day.. So, don't be afraid to mark it up!!!!!! And please don't confused it with emoticon day, that was September 19th!!! ;P

NPD is celebrated in schools and businesses throughout the world with activities, games, programs, and contests. It has inspired people to pay attention not only to their p’s and q’s, but also their commas, semicolons, and ellipses. NPD reminds us of the importance of proper punctuation for communicating clearly at home, school, or at work.
NPD has received worldwide media attention since former newspaperman Jeff Rubin founded the holiday in 2004, with newspaper coverage from Manila to London and from Seoul to Seattle, in addition to broad radio and TV coverage in the United States—including a short segment on Regis and Kelly in 2008.
NPD is recognized by Chase’s Calendar of Events and listed in its sister publication, The Teacher’s Calendar, two directories published by McGraw-Hill.

Who's Who???

Amy thinks we look a like... I just think we are happy babies...

A Little Birdie Told Me...

Q: What is the past tense of Tweeting?

A: Meredith from the today show says she's done it.... It must be OK then... See Below..

Working the Weekend...

Amy's on call this weekend and has pretty much gotten pimped... (just the way it goes sometimes..) Normally it's pretty easy going.. but not this weekend.. She's getting plenty of practice... :)

I also realized ths weekend that with the Q's here... if Amy has to go in to the hospital, then I have to work too... Not like pre-Q.. I could jump in the car a cruse to the river.. watch football, or even take a nap... but with the little Q-dogg, theses things are just not possible..

No call next weekend so thing will be back to normal...

I did take advantage of Amy not being here today by getting all of my house work done... Now tomorrow I can run errands with empty stores.. Maybe I'll get a little something for the bike...

Chef's Table RGCC

Amy and I have done a few of these types of meals.. Chef Schoonover did a terrific job combining a diverse menu with an obvious attention to detail on each course.. It's always the subtle things that make the biggest difference..

I would recommend getting 8 fun people (as we did) together and block off your schedule for several hours...

I got the bike yesterday... Sorta my birthday present from Amy.. and I've already started to PIMP IT OUT... Upgrades include: Skull Valve Caps, Old School Horn, and a Minnesota Vanity Plate RICH... In the future I need to add some saddle bags, mirrors, and drink holder... I'll keep you posted...

BTW - When this bike is done it will be way cooler than Pee Wee's Bike...

Amazing the things you find out about your classmates.. Congratulations Alan!!! Hope to see you in July and shake your hand..

The day started out badly for Petty Officer 2nd Class Alan Dementer while he served with the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment near Nasiriyah, Iraq. And it never got any better.
By the end of that day, March 26, 2003, Dementer would end up with shrapnel in his shoulder and leg, but his actions taking care of wounded Marines would earn him the Bronze Star with “V.”
Dementer’s morning began with a call to evacuate some wounded Marines. As he was preparing to leave, the Navy corpsman found that his rifle wasn’t working properly so he had to scramble to borrow another.
After a couple more trips to treat more wounded through the day, Dementer and a few fellow corpsmen, who were based in Camp Lejeune, N.C., settled in for a quiet evening in their tent.
The unit’s armorer sat working on Dementer’s rifle when mortar rounds started to hit their position.
“All of a sudden, one hit next to the tent and shrapnel hit near the chief,” he said, “and we hit the deck.”
The sailors left the unprotected tent and found themselves in the thick of an enemy attack. “Two trucks were on fire,” he said. “Tracers were flying everywhere.”
Mortars, bullets and rocket-propelled grenades were hitting in the camp.
“Marines were yelling ‘corpsman up’ in a 360-degree radius,” said Dementer, a 13-year Navy veteran. “They were hit all over the place.”
Dementer and the other corpsmen responded to the calls.
“There were so few of us (corpsmen) … [we decided] to bring them to us,” he said about the wounded.
Almost immediately, a nearby machine gun position was hit with what Dementer believes was an rocket-propelled grenade.
One corpsman went to pull the wounded to safety. Dementer went to get his medical supply bag, which was kept in a nearby ambulance.
“I overshot the ambulance,” he said. “Then a mortar landed in the middle of the courtyard not 25 yards away. Shrapnel broke the concrete … and knocked me square over on my back.”
Small pieces of shrapnel had embedded in his shoulder and leg.
“I didn’t realize I was hit,” said the Gladstone, Mich., native. “I rolled over and scooted back.” Grabbing his bag, he made his way back to the other corpsmen.
A wounded gunnery sergeant then came over to their position and said his Marines were pinned down next to the south wall.
“I said ‘Roger that,’ and grabbed my medic bag with extra bandages and took off to the south wall,” he said.
Dementer stopped to patch up one or two wounded Marines, he said, before making it to the wall. There, a lieutenant waited to hoist him to the other side, which was under direct enemy fire.
“There was a couple second lull in the fire,” Dementer said, “and I jumped over the wall.”
He treated six wounded Marines on that side of the wall, eventually evacuating them to the battalion aid station, and was credited with helping 31 wounded Marines that night.

Baby Tip #9

It's back... Baby Tips... Enjoy...

Like I've been saying the old people are crazy when it comes to babies... What is it? Do old people feel threatened? Well if your going to hit another persons child I guess Walmart would be the logical place to do it...

Meet Roger Stephens. The Georgia man, 61, was shopping Monday morning at a Walmart in Stone Mountain when he crossed paths with Sonya Matthews and her two-year-old daughter Paige. The child was crying, which apparently greatly perturbed Matthews. "If you don't shut that baby up I will shut her up for you," Stephens warned Matthews, according to a Gwinnett County Police Department report. Moments later, Stephens acted on his threat, slapping Paige "across the face approximately four or five times." Though the child "started crying and screaming" after being struck, Stephens told Matthews, "See, I told you I would shut her up." After police were summoned, Stephens told a cop that the child was crying "and he just slapped her," according to the report. Stephens was arrested for felony cruelty to children and booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond. Paige sustained "slight redness to the face," but was otherwise unharmed.

BTW - This in no way applies to you Jim........... :)

Take 1

I have officially gone too far... I'm just trying to be the best S@HD I can be....

A wise(ass) man once said... "It's the tuffest job u'll ever luv....."

So Long Old Friends...

Yesterday, I made the call and pulled the trigger on a new pair of Birkenstocks... I had my current pair for over 10 years.. but they are getting a little unsafe.. and after losing most of my summer to a broken foot.. I figured I would pick some up in the fall when they went on sale..

I did get a good deal.. I went to Tradehome in the mall. They're that store with the super high pressure guys that introduce themselves with a hand shake and try to develop a relationship with you (over a pair of shoes)...

Anyway, one of their "cage" questions always is.... So, what do you do? (like they are trying to pick me up in a bar)... Now, I'll set the scene here.. it's 1:30pm on a tuesday afternoon, i'm in shorts, with a baby, in a mall... I told him I'm doing it... He said, What? I said, I'm doing it.. I'm a S@HD... Then he tried to make feel better about "my job".. by assuring me that he thought it was cool... I just commented.. Some people sell shoes and some can choose to raise their children..

Now, what to do with the old Birks... Amy says toss'm... I say, keep them around.. I could use them to wash the car... take out the trash... go get the mail... it would be like a little Birk retirement program...

Father Foul!!

Father Foul!!, originally uploaded by Rich on the Road.

I'm calling a Father Foul on Amy... I noticed after she left for work
that she used my Father's Day mug for her morning cup of coffee...
That's just wrong...

iTesting iPhoto

This little experiment took about 5 seconds to do on our new iMac... Look out Xmass cards... So far so good with the new computer...

Funny, a new computer is like when you move into a new place... Until you start moving everything you don't realize how much crap you have that you don't need... and it always seems that there is the perfect place to put things away at the new place.... lots a closet space...

Oh and most important... it's bigger and better.... Those damn Jones's....

Tiny Toilet

This has to be the smallest public toilet I've ever seen... I think it's about only 6" off the floor.

If you want to take a look for yourself the bathroom can be found on the lower level of Macy's at the Southdale Mall... (Kids Section)
